Boreal Forest

There are only a handful of areas left in the United States preserved to protect ecosystems and their inhabitants. The boreal toad, Alexander Archipelago wolf, banana slug, goshawk, marbled murrelet, red backed vole, calypso orchid, shy maiden, deer heart, and sundews, are just a few obligate species of the Boreal forest, of which only 25.9% on federal land is designated wilderness. The plants and animals in this painting represent the percentage of their habitat protected by the Wilderness Act, the remaining percentage is reduced to bone.
